If you’ve been following Parse & Parcel on twitter or facebook, you know we’re big fans of designer Dana Tanamachi. While we love all of her work, her chalkboard art installations are among our favorites. We’re so inspired we want to incorporate this technique into our new sample studio space, but how? We love the look, but the idea of taping and painting seems overwhelming under normal circumstances – never mind in the midst of a move. We almost gave up on the idea, but then we remembered wallCHALKER, the new product from MACtac.
This is chalkboard art – reimagined. wallCHALKER is a removable vinyl adhesive that lends itself perfectly for unexpected and creative applications. It’s basically a thin synthetic adhesive that can be applied to any flat surface. Since it’s vinyl it’s also pretty versatile and can easily be cut into shapes. The product is a deep, rich black that allows both regular chalk and liquid chalk to pop! Plus it wipes clean with an eraser or damp cloth. At 4.6 mil (thickness) wallCHALKER is easy to handle and the removable adhesive is super strong, so it can easily support large application yet remove cleanly. Less expensive than chalkboard paint, the product comes in two sizes: 24″ x 164″ and 48″ x 164″. We think we found the perfect place for it in our new digs, now to find the artist. Know any good letterers/chalkboard artists interested in having their work featured in our sample studio? Drop us a note.
