When it comes to ink on paper, nothing shows the craft of print better than stunning photography. While most of the work to perfect the image is done during pre-press and production, one component that can make or break a project featuring heavy photography is paper selection. One of the best examples I’ve seen featuring photography is the recent promotion on Accent Opaque, The A-List.

When it comes to choosing just the right sheet for this type of project, most people think the finish is the most important consideration. And while it’s important I would also suggest factoring paper shade into your process. The A-List shows just how gorgeous images, especially those featuring flesh tones, can look when printed on a warm white shade of paper.

One look at the cover and you’ll notice gold foil and gold jewelry jump off the page, not in a harsh way either. The color of the woman’s skin has a soft glow and warmth to it that comes from the shade of the paper. Upon closer look, you’ll see that the smooth finish really provides a nice hard surface for the ink to sit on – just look at her skin, the detail you see is amazing, no muddy mid-tones here.

Throughout the piece you’ll see one stunning image after another, all featured on Accent Opaque Warm White Smooth in 80# Cover. The solids look as good as the images, printed four color process throughout with red and green touch plates and gold foil stamp on the cover. This promotion is definitely on our A-list.
